The Clinic – Central and Established
First of all, you may have been referred or recommended by your family doctor / other specialists. Alternatively, you can contact us to make an appointment with our psychiatrist by calling +65 64796456.
You will be surprised that seeing a doctor / psychiatrist in our clinic is really a simple and easy thing to do.
Dr BL Lim Centre for Psychological Wellness is located at Gleneagles Medical Centre next to Botanic Gardens, Tanglin Gate. Our clinic is near to the elevator lobby on the ninth floor. When you enter our clinic, you will be greeted by one of our friendly staff and asked to complete a simple five minute registration process. We endeavour to start the consultation session as timely as possible .
Our dedicated team strive to ensure that your experience in our clinic is a comfortable and pleasant one. Most importantly. your privacy will be strictly ensured and is our top priority.
The Interview – Private and Confidential
A first visit consult will usually last about 30 to 45 minutes. Some patients may require up to an hour. You may not know what to expect or what to say when seeing our psychiatrist. He will require as much relevant information as possible so as to help him understand your problems better. You may be uncomfortable initially when asked to provide details of your life but that is ok. Opening up about the things you are used to keeping to yourself can be scary.
Let our experienced and reassuring psychiatrist, Dr Lim Boon Leng, guide you through the interview and put you at ease. You can also bring someone you trust along and asked that he or she be with you for the consult.
Management and Treatment – Consultative and Tailored
It is our firm belief that the treatment process is a consultative one. Your doctor will present to you his findings, diagnosis and your treatment options. Often there can be many approaches to the treatment of psychological / psychiatric conditions. You can decide together with your doctor what suits your needs best and a tailored made care plan can be implemented for you.
Our psychiatrist’s recommendation is based on best clinical practices from local and international guidelines and will usually include:
- Medications
- Psychological treatments and referrals to psychologists or counsellors
- Practical advice on dealing with an illness
- Practical advice on ways to stay well
- Advice on ways to stepping back into life, seeing the people that matters and getting back to the things you like.
